Hennick and Charlton’s comprehensive 1965 study of the city’s streetcar lines. Excellent coverage from the early years up to when the Canal line was discontinued in 1964. A must for any street railway fan.

Edited by Myron Tassin for August Perez Associates, this history of the St. Charles line is also a great reference. Out of print, but still can be had via the used book dealers affiliated with amazon.
